Spring in pastels
As you might have noticed, I’m not a big fan of color. All the way from October to March the colors I tend to pick when it comes to clothes are black, gray and dark green. I guess my looks reflect my mood, which is pretty damn depressive in the winter season.
But as soon as spring comes I go crazy for color and especially everything that is bright and lovely. I love white shirts and blouses and pastel pink always catches my eye.
I have a mixed opinion about wearing trends.
On the one hand I don’t want trends to affect my personal style and change my way of thinking about clothes. I want to develop unique personal style that is not influenced by the latest ”must have” trend and instead listen to my instincts.
On the other hand it’s hard to resist the trend of the season and keep an unbiased opinion, when the media is bombarding you at every corner, trying to alter the way you think. And often they succeed, even though the trend they are trying to impose is completely ridiculous.
Ridiculous trends I will NEVER follow (although…never say never)
The furry slippers
The first major trend (that is unfortunately still popular) and I just cannot stand is the slippers trend. Do you know which shoes I’m talking about? The most popular are the leather ones from Gucci. You can click HERE to check them out. They are often called slides as well and they basically look like something my grandpa would wear in the morning, sipping coffee in his bathroom robe. They are not flattering to any body type and they look like they would slip from my feet if I try to walk just a little bit faster.
I never imagined anyone would be wearing Crocs for anything other than gardening or as an appropriate pool side flip flops. I’ ve never bought a pair of Crocs clogs and I never will. I honestly wouldn’t even wear crocs at home, where no one can see me, because I feel ugly just looking at them let alone wearing them.
The only situation when these plastic clogs are appropriate is if you are a cute little kid, that has cute little Crocs. For the rest of you….please stop wearing them in public.
You can see how they look like on a runway HERE.
The infamous plastic jeans from Topshop
Topshop….why? First of all, I can’t imagine how horrible plastic ”jeans” must feel against the skin. And I can only wonder how hot it gets when the temperature rises. Secondly, why wear jeans at all if you can see right through them? What is the point?! I just don’t get it. You can check them out HERE and let me know what you think about them in the comments below.
Trend that won my heart
There is one trend that was MAJOR in 2016 I completely fell in love with. It all started with the cutest pair of ballerina flats from MiuMiu that took over the fashion world. They are so pretty and look good with skirts, dresses, jeans and probably everything else there is. Now that is a trend I will gladly follow! Unfortunately my budget is limited when it comes to ballet flats, so I couldn’t afford THIS gorgeous pair from MiuMiu.
Lucky for me, ZARA followed the trend and made the beautiful pair of ballerinas I choose for the today’s look.
Fashion trends: to follow or not to follow ?
The bottom line is trends are not a bad thing. They come, they refresh your existing wardrobe and make your outfits rock! But it’s important to stay true to your personal style, so you should think carefully which trends are for you and you definitely shouldn’t blindly follow every trend that appears.
Choose wisely! 😉
*side note: The trends I find ridiculous are not necessarily ugly to everyone, so you should probably follow them if you find them appealing. I just expressed my opinion and I’m not judging anyone that proudly wears the trends I mentioned :).
